Oooooh, look at you and your fancy discovery of our secret QR code. Are you a gymnast?

You’re probably imagining something really interesting here, like a walkthrough of how we made Metropogiraffolis? Well… er… maybe we could share a few pics, seeing as you’re here now…

It started with a blank canvas, wrapped lovingly in bubble wrap.

But we had a plan, and some inspiration…

We added car body filler onto the fibre glass giraffe, using foam to mark out the shapes. We’d later remove the foam once the shapes were sanded smooth.

In our story, Metropogiraffolis is controlled by a Dinky director. They needed a ‘Directator’ to input their directing wishes. This was made separately in stainless steel.

Here’s the control panel being made.

Many months later… we were ready for paint and assembly…

Lots of careful masking… and a fair bit of spraying (Giraffes are BIG)…

And a load more painting in depth and details… and Metropogiraffolis was born!

Only to be wrapped up again snuggly until she’s ready to be revealed to the public… which is about where you come into the story!

Woot!

Oh… and if you didn’t already know. We make and hide, lots of miniature Dinky Doors all over Cambridge. Perhaps you’d like to discover them all by going on a Dinky Doors Tour?
